I believe that I would not have been where I am today had NYDA not committed itself towards helping me throughout my journey. After completing my matric in 2013 I was unable to further my studies due to financial constraints. I had the whole of 2014 to think about what I wanted to do next and studying Law came at the top of my list. NYDA was like my guardian angel throughout my university and bursary applications for 2015.
I remember visiting the NYDA offices in Kimberley almost every week for their free internet service and information regarding university applications and bursaries. The staff were always helpful and friendly. NYDA not only helped me get to varsity but also helped me to realize that one can achieve anything in life by working hard and not letting harsh life conditions get in the way of my dreams. Today I am proud to say that i have been awarded the Motsepe Foundation bursary and doing well at varsity all thanks to the help I received at NYDA.
I will always be grateful to NYDA for giving me an opportunity to make something of my life. One staff member that I would like to make special mention of is Theresa Mokwa (Career Guidance Officer), affectionately known as Ous Theresa for believing in me and supporting me all the way. I would like to encourage NYDA to keep helping young people like myself to achieve their dreams”.
