On Monday, the Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Jeff Radebe, said Cabinet is saddened by Stofile’s passing, who was a veteran political activist.
“He participated in all pillars of government at various provincial, national and international structures… We convey our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this painful and difficult period,” said the Minister, speaking on behalf of Cabinet following the Lekgotla that was held in Pretoria last week.
Stofile’s funeral service will be held on Thursday at the University of Fort Hare in Alice, where he was a Chancellor. President Jacob Zuma will deliver the eulogy at the funeral.
President Jacob Zuma has declared a Special Official Funeral for the former Minister, who passed away last week Monday at his home in Alice in the Eastern Cape.
The President has instructed that the National Flag fly at half-mast at every station in the country from 18 August until the evening of 25 August 2016, the day of the burial of Reverend Stofile.
