Middelburg Mall’s drive to collect stationery was a resounding success as the community heeded the call to donate new or pre-loved stationery to help youngsters in need ahead of the new school year.

The mall’s initiative saw Middelburg Mall tenants and shoppers alike generously contribute a variety of back to school essentials for the SAVF Belfast Child and Youth Care Centre, which included an entire shopping trolley full of stationery donated by Miss Middelburg.

The drive took place over three months from November 2016 until January 2017 where enough stationery was collected to enable at least 200 learners to start the new year with everything they need to reach their full potential.

Donated items were all given to the SAVF Belfast Child and Youth Care Centre at an official hand-over ceremony Tuesday, 24 January. The successful collection drive will assist the SAVF Belfast Child and Youth Care Centre in their efforts in making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

Middelburg Mall General Manager Mike Tammadge says support for the back to school stationery collection drive was outstanding. “Middelburg Mall tenants Soda Bloc and Bargain Books, as well as one of our regular exhibitors Mega Couch, all pledged their support through generous contributions. We’re also grateful to have the opportunity to help young learners and wish to thank our shoppers for making the collection drive such a success.”
