Consultations on 2017 varsity fees ongoing

The Department of Higher Education and Training says government has not yet made a pronouncement on university fee adjustments for 2017, as consultations on the matter are ongoing.

Higher Education and Training Minister Dr Blade Nzimande says he is hopeful that the current consultations with all stakeholders on the 2017 university fees will conclude successfully, with a formal announcement expected to be made in mid-September.

New TVET colleges to target unskilled youth

The Department of Higher Education and Training says the planned 12 Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges will be used to try to absorb the millions of young people who are either uneducated, unskilled or unemployed.
