South Africa logged over 12 000 new COVID-19 cases for the first time this week, after recording fewer than 10 000 infections a day in the past few days.
South Africa has recorded 3 954 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the number of infections to 572 865 since the first case was reported in March.
While the daily COVID-19 infections have dropped from an average of 5 000 down to 1 700 in Gauteng, a long road still lies ahead, Premier David Makhura has warned.
