The Gauteng Education Department is looking to employ "young and dynamic" teachers after thousands of educators in the province have applied to either work from home or exit the system indefinitely for fear of COVID-19.
Schools in Gauteng recorded an 85% attendance of learners and educators for the first day of reopening of schools on Monday.
Schools will reopen on 8 June 2020 for grade 7 and 12 learners to allow for the orientation and training of teachers.
