Young people are at the centre of radical economic transformation, says Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Mzwandile Masina.

The Department of Social Development will today lead a specialist team to Malawi to repatriate a 14-year-old minor and a 20-year-old youth, who were allegedly abducted and trafficked to Malawi.

Lack of information and recreational facilities for young people took centre stage when Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Buti Manamela, met with youth formations in Eesterust, east of Pretoria.

It’s been 39 years since the historic Soweto students’ uprisings, when young people took to the streets on 16 June 1976 to protest against the imposition of Afrikaans as a medium of instruction in schools.
