Haggai Independent School to get mobile library

Written by

Communications Minister Faith Muthambi will in partnership with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) hand over a mobile library to Haggai Independent School, near Thohoyandou, on Friday.

As part of marking this year’s 40th anniversary of the June 16, Soweto uprisings, the public broadcaster’s foundation in partnership with its regional station, PhalaPhala FM, will celebrate the day in Maniini by donating a mobile library equipped with extensive shelving and furniture to a community in need.

Minister Muthambi said: “This is an initiative by the SABC Foundation to provide children who have no access to books in their schools and homes with the opportunity to improve their literacy skills.

“The objective is to bring information and knowledge to where people are. Information is essential to any society, and through this library the people and children of Maniini can be able to use it to improve their lives, have access to life-long learning opportunities and also access the support they need.”
