The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) partnered with the Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality to host a Socio-Economic Youth Dialogue and Economic Development Awareness Programme at the Morokweng Community Hall in the North West Province.
The youth were empowered with information from numerous government departments that included, the NYDA,Department of Education, Department of Social Development, SARS, SEDA, South African Police Services (SAPS) and North West Provincial Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industries South Africa (YCCISA), and other relevant stakeholders.
According to Kenny Morolong, NYDA Executive Deputy Chairperson, “The memorandum of agreement between the NYDA and the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality is a step in the right direction in implementing the NYDA’s plan of establishing local youth offices to allow easy access for youth in rural areas. Furthermore traditional leadership is a critical partner in ensuring that we reach out to rural communities” said Morolong.
The NYDA is intensifying its outreach programmes that are targeted at creating a strong culture of entrepreneurship but also with more emphasis on education and skills development.
